Although my personal preference is for parents to book their newborn photography session during their second trimester, sometimes that isn’t quite possible. Here is the email I received when baby Everly was 10 weeks old:
My daughter was born September 18th at 32.5 weeks. She was only released from hospital earlier this month.
We would like to get newborn photos of her.
However, she is a very light sleeper and I am a little concerned she will not remain asleep for the posing.
My policy is that I never turn down a baby for a session, even if she is technically “too old” for a newborn session. I promise a beautiful gallery, although I cannot guarantee lots of curled up sleepy poses, and my clients always appreciate this.
This mom had multiple complications and surgeries during this pregnancy. In fact, the cardiology team at the University of Maryland was unsure about both mother and baby surviving the journey. Thankfully and miraculously, baby Everly was delivered at 32.5 weeks and released from the hospital two months later in good health!
The birth of a newborn is always a miracle, and during this photo session I felt even more attuned to the magic of a new baby! Everly was a strong 12 pounds, and I kept her swaddled for the majority of the session. At the end of the photo shoot, the parents were in tears, thanking me for the gorgeous photos, as they had been fearful that they’d missed the amazing opportunity for newborn portraits.
Enjoy these photos of Everly, the beautiful miracle baby!
