Last year, I had the privilege of photographing gorgeous newborn baby Adrienne, and so I was delighted when her mom, Tosin, contacted me to photograph her one year birthday cake smash session! It’s always incredible to me to see how quickly babies grow up and change in just one short year!
Tosin decided to do take the opportunity to update her family portraits along with the cake smash, and she also brought along two cakes: A purple one that was going to be used for the party, which Adrienne was not supposed to smash. Try explaining that to a one year old! I only had a fraction of a second to take that photo before Adrienne started sampling the frosting and Tosin grabbed it away! Then came the pink birthday cake, which was meant for smashing.
We captured incredibly beautiful family photos with Mom, Dad, and baby in both casual and formal outfits. I adore how you can see the interaction and connection in this family’s expressions! I don’t usually post so many photos from one session; however, I was simply unable to narrow down my selection for this blog post any further! Tosin purchased one gallery wrapped canvas in advance, and right now she loves all the photos and is having trouble choosing which photo to display! (I told her that we can do a collage, and we may go that route!)
Adrienne was thrilled with her cake, and delighted to make a mess of the frosting. She was not particularly interested in actually eating the cake, yet she thoroughly enjoyed playing with it, as you can see in these photos.
It’s so meaningful to me when clients return to my studio for more photos — to me, it means that they trust Chaya Braun Photography to create beautiful, breathtaking artwork of their family, which will be treasured for years to come.
