Kelly truly deserves a prize for booking her newborn session early in her pregnancy! If you are currently researching newborn photography in Baltimore, it’s advisable to book your photo shoot in your second trimester. This will give us plenty of time to discuss all the custom options and be fully prepared for your session, and guarantee that I will have an available slot for you on my studio calendar. (It’s sad when I get last minute inquiries from parents of babies who didn’t book their session when they were pregnant, and I have no choice but to turn them away because my schedule is full.)

Five year old Parker and two year old Nora were incredibly proud of newborn baby Reese! Their parents are certainly doing something right, as these preschool girls listened to my every directive and posed beautifully. I also love how the big sisters showed such expression to me; you can feel their confidence in these photos! I always take the time to get individual shots of the big siblings who accompany their baby to the studio, so that they can feel extra special when looking back at their baby’s album.

Little Reese did not get the memo that she was supposed to arrive sleeping to her newborn session, and was awake for the beginning of the photo shoot. In the photo where the big girls are wearing silver dresses, Reese was wide awake and looking at my half-cross-eyed, but I managed to capture her blinking with a peaceful expression! I love both open and closed eye photos of newborn babies; yet the open eye photos are a toss up — the infant will usually look in every direction except my camera! Luckily, in the photo with the blue backdrop, Reese made perfect eye contact with my camera’s lens!

Speaking of that photo on blue; this was the very first time I posed a baby girl with the color blue! As a mom of 3 boys followed by a girl, I love to use pinks, purples, and neutrals for the princesses at my studio, and using blue for a girl is very far from my creative mind! However, I had recently purchased this beautiful blue headband, so when Kelly chose blue as one of the colors for her session, I dared myself to go out of my comfort zone and pose a girl with blue, and the results were fabulous!

Enjoy these photos of Reese and her lovely family!
